Gerberas belong to the family Compositae. The gerbera
plants are stemless and tender perennial herbs. The leaves are
radical and arranged in a rosette at the base. The flower stalks
are long, thin, and leafless.
The genus Gerbera consists of about forty species of half-hardy
and perennial flowering plants. Out of these, only Gerberas Jamesonii
is under cultivation.
